Dear Denis, I hope you are doing fine. I made it back to Germany. On Thursday I went to hospital and they could not give me any more information than you provided, so it seems, all you did was right. Many thanks for your help, it was my first accident and stay in hospital and to be honest, it could not have been better. Please continue your work as you do, I felt safe and in good hands. Greetings, from Dinslaken. 

Morning Doc, I trust you are well. Thank you once again for being available on the 8/4/17, a date that changed my life. The good, is that God, appointed you to be there at the right time and I am so grateful for that. I’m living life now more than ever. Knowing that it can be taken away in a second, which is above our control. I thank God for you daily and pray that God must keep that calling alive in your life, because you do it with so much love and passion. Yes, there is the down side to the accident, such as the slowness, limping and everything else that goes with it, but surely I have gained more than what I have lost. My testimony will forever be grateful for God giving me the best surgeon. Thank You. 

The whole thing with the shooting made me more grateful for the time I have with my family and it made me more aware of what is going on around me. Thank you for the wise word you gave me the last time I saw you, it meant a lot to me.

You are good, extremely kind and very understanding. I appreciate this more than I can say, and I enjoy working with you. I thank you for all the help you gave me, it would have been quite difficult otherwise. It makes a huge difference to me when you are around – you should not have been involved in this and yet you did get involved. This makes you special. You are special. 

Dr. you have taught me so much about myself. Thank you for that. Days like these are very emotional, because it could have been so different. How we appreciate you and words cannot express how grateful we are for your blessed hands. Its once again, the month of May, and a reminder that this day could have been so different. You have been truly elected that day to take that journey with my mom and the family and we thank God for blessing you and the marvellous work you have done. 

Now that she sees various doctors and I am still going through this journey with her, we both realised after doctors’ visits, how bad her injuries were and every time we hear these words “it’s a miracle that you are here” –  we thank you. We owe everything to the Lord and more so because he chose you that night and we are forever grateful. 

Dear Dr, Firstly I would like to thank you for the role you played in saving my life. When this was mentioned on the radio, it takes me few steps back, thinking about the incident, I was so emotional. 

Dr. Allard, It’s been a week since the tragic accident. We would like thank you for your unbelievable care and compassion towards our family. This is appreciated beyond words. May the Almighty give you the years and health to continue your committed chosen career. 

Firstly, thank you for your outstanding care, beautiful bedside manners and words of wisdom. I believe people come into your life for a reason and you are one of them. Secondly, I am recovering very well. Taking it one day at a time. Thank you again and have a superb day. 

Hey Doc, I watched this from your Facebook feed. Wow, absolutely amazing. Well done on doing such a great job. It’s not just about the fixing, but the saving. Thanks for the dedication Dr. There are really very few people in life that will make the sacrifices you did to provide for others. Thank you.

As you said “I could not choose you as my doctor”, but I know you are the answer to my screaming prayer that I cried out as I fell – ‘GOD help me!’. God heard my cry and gave me the best help he could in your expert professional care with your calm patient and engaging bed-side manner. From my first interaction with you I felt reassured that you would do what was best for me. What doctor goes to X-ray and assists and tries to lessen the pain?  

Thank you for all of your patience in answering my questions and thoroughly explaining what you were doing and the implications of your procedures and how I would heal. I only have the highest praise for you as my physician and my friend. It is obvious that you are answering a calling to be the very best skilled and compassionate physician.

Dear Doctor Allard, now that I am back in London and the intense trauma and subsequent myriad of things to do, I am slowly able to really grieve and collect my thoughts. First and foremost, I want to thank you for all you did for my brother and your sensitivity and empathy in your care of him and towards us in this terrible situation.  I shall never forget your gentleness when you closed his eyes. You are a very special soul/being and we wish you everything you would wish yourself in your life and career. 

Just wanted to say that you’re my hero and a legend. Thank you for saving my life. I am ready to take the next step to changing my life for the better. 

I am with my mother and brother currently in Plett on my weekend out. I sent you an email last week but I’m sure that you’re swamped with work! I miss you and I’d like to know if I can have the opportunity to talk with you this weekend over the phone sometime if possible. Missing you and forever grateful for your influence on my journey back to health. 

Dear Denis – A belated thank you for your assistance and support (physical and emotional) to our son and the whole family in February – you were our angel that dreadful night and in the days that followed – I am glad to say that he is doing well. 

A small token of appreciation for your professionalism & your wonderful kindness you gave so kindly and in a caring way. You are ‘one in a million’ … enjoy.

Hi Dr. I must say I have always seen how much time you took by your patients side, now I have experienced it with you. You really care for your patients and I love how you involved the multidisciplinary team from all angles, to make sure your patients have the best possible diagnosis,  prognosis, and a firm plan of action for any abnormalities that may arise. You are always one step ahead in your mind and you are always weighing your options or care plan to keep the scale of critical care balanced. I also love how you have the time and patience to make time for teaching and showing CT, XRAYS etc.., thus giving us as nurses, physio’s, dietitian etc.. a broader picture to focus on, which allows me to formulate an optimum nursing care plan that shoots my patients basic and critical needs in an extend that I feel totally prepared, competent  and relaxed to provide my care as part of the multidisciplinary team.  

Dr I salute you, I will work with you anytime, any day, if it is to just put a band aid on a scrape or disaster, I will be there on your side. The other thing that I admire is your humbleness and honour. When you discovered that the NG tube has a manufacturer error, you said the whole time if you would have checked it before, that things would’ve been better. I agree, but you took responsibility for it right away and you delivered, you did everything you knew right in your mind and sorted the patient out. Sometimes a faulty NG tube can bring you to your destination. God knows why he puts us on the paths he intended for us, to make and transform us in the person we are today, and forever changing until we reach our full potential. Hippocrates oath you took, Nurses pledge I took, we live by it and practice what we preach. You are a one-of-a-kind extraordinary human being, doing what you were called on, on this earth. 

Fantastic and hope for a 100% recovery soon.  I have to commend all the doctors /surgeons involved in this patient’s care/treatment. South Africa should be very proud of our medical teams, including everyone else involved. 

Good afternoon Dr, I just want to say thank you for the effort that you and the other personnel at the hospital has put into trying to keep our son alive. Please also give our thanks to our the other doctor. I know you have done everything you could and that he was in the best hands. I know it could not be easy for you as well if things does not work out. Just know that we really really appreciate what you guys did. 

Hi Denis. I just want to thank you again for the work you have done over the past couple of days. You are extremely professional in how you go about your work and I felt in safe hands. You are a definite asset to the medical profession. 

I fell at Lion’s Head and you treated me at Christian Barnard. Thank you so much for your loving and professional care for me and my family. I am much indebted to you. Once again thank you so much for caring for me and my family during my recent ordeal in cape Town. I had wonderful trauma care and pain management at Christian Barnard hospital. They are a wonderful team of doctors and staff, especially trauma surgeon, Dr Denis Allard. I had broken my right wrist and lower arm at the wrist joint, 2 broken ribs, fortunately up to now, appears to have no head injury or undetected internal bleeding. I was discharged on the 22nd of November and my family arranged a 13 hour flight back to Singapore on the 23rd of November. I arrived in Singapore on the 24th of November and was admitted to hospital to have hand surgery at 3pm local time, 2hrs upon admission. Surgery went very well. I have regained most functionality on my right hand, but still need to regain strength to perform some daily chores. I also discovered my left hand had an unattended tiny fracture at the wrist. 

You are a star. J (American female patient seen for COPD prescription prior to return flight) said it was her best doctor visit ever. Your respect for the patient shines through. 

Good morning – Just wanted to touch base, I hope you are well. I ended up going into Kenilworth clinic for 45 days. I worked through a lot – feeling like a different person. Thank you for being there during this tough time.

But I just want you to know I am fully recovered & that you have given me massive inspiration to get back to full health & strength. Hi Dr Allard. How does a Dad say thank you for what you have done for our son. I battle to find the appropriate words. I don’t think I can thank you verbally currently without crying. The day you and our paths crossed when you received our son at the Emergency Room, my heart was shattered and broken into a million pieces. You clearly have a passion for what you do and for your patients. You are an absolutely amazing surgeon. You have amazed me around every corner. I know we are paying for your services BUT your care for our son goes beyond monetary value. From the bottom of my heart I would like to thank you for everything you have done for my champion son.
